Strong concepts, research, development and storytelling are the keystones of our work. As a design lab, we ask questions and experiment with knowns and unknowns – using experience, observations and imagination to cleave pathways to the new.

Our work has been featured in events, exhibitions and publications in Canada, the US, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden.

Clients include: HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates, Philips Design Hong Kong, Steelcase Asia-Pacific, British Council Japan, Volkswagen Japan.

In 2016, 2018 and 2022, Sonia and Huschang designed and built art suites for the ephemeral ICEHOTEL Sweden, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.​

 

Our cat joined us as a tiny, timid rescue. The kink in her tail sometimes looks like a lightning bolt – a fitting embodiment of her high-powered personality. She is our muse, time-keeper, and life barometer.​

 

SONIA CHOW is a designer, artist and educator. With over 25 years of international experience, her practice spans communication design, fashion, textiles, furniture, and interior graphics, often bringing together concept, craft, and systems thinking. 

 

Sonia held senior creative roles at Farrells Hong Kong (architect planners), Philips Design, and HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates. Beyond branding and identity, her work includes publication design, packaging, and projects ranging from cultural initiatives to luxury interiors. She was also the City Organizer of PechaKucha Night Hong Kong, curating 17 events with 200 speakers over five years, building a vibrant public platform for creative exchange. 

 

Sonia holds a BDes in Communication Design and an MFA in Studio (Interdisciplinary Art). She was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts for graphic design and is a recipient of the SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Master’s Scholarship and Arts Nova Scotia grants. Her award-winning work has been exhibited and published internationally in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

 

As part of her broader practice, she teaches as sessional faculty at NSCAD University.

 

HUSCHANG POURIAN has a Bachelor of Design from Hochschule Mannheim (Germany), and a Master of Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation from Saint Mary’s University, Sobey School of Business (Canada).

Huschang has over 25 years of international experience in brand development and communications, fashion design, product design, and spatial design. The immersive experience of living in Europe, Asia and North America – and working in interdisciplinary, multicultural collaborative teams – has given him a close personal and professional understanding of diverse cultures beyond his own mixed heritage.

Huschang’s industry expertise spans entrepreneurial contexts and multinational corporations (most recently, Philips Design and HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates) while his academic experience includes communication design at the Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai, and entrepreneurship at Mount Saint Vincent University.

His design work has been featured in exhibitions, events and publications in Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, Canada and the US.

Huschang’s research focuses on technology for education and investigating the potential of the experience economy. He is a full-time Assistant Professor, Design Division, at the Director of Master of Design Program at NSCAD University.​
